Concert by Tallinn Boys’ Choir in Helsinki Cathedral

On Friday, 17 September at 19.00, the Tallinn Boys’ Choir will give a concert in Helsinki Cathedral. The choir will be in Finland at the invitation of the Estonian Embassy and will also perform at the official opening of the Estonian House, which will take place on the same day in Suvilahti.

The Boys’ Choir, established in September 1988, is a classical mixed choir directed by Lydia and Tomi Rahula. The choir consists of boys aged 10-15 and young men aged 16-35. The choir’s rich and versatile repertoire includes everything from Gregorian chants to choral polyphony and from Estonian compositions to spirituals. The musical level of the choir has been highly praised by both Estonian and foreign music critics.

Performances by the Tallinn Boys’ Choir have been recorded on the radio in Estonia, Japan, the Netherlands and Germany and on television in Estonia, the USA and Japan. In co-operation with the Tapiola Chamber Choir, Krzysztof Penderecki’s Stabat Mater was recorded in Finland.
