23.11.2010

No. 368-E

Foreign Minister Urmas Paet condemned North Korea’s attack on South Korea’s island of Yeonpyeong today and expressed concern that the military provocation could threaten peace in the entire region.

“We call on North Korea to refrain from attacks and adhere to the cease-fire agreement,” said Foreign Minister Paet. “Peace and stability on the Korean peninsula is in the interest of Estonia and of the entire international community,” he added. Paet also recognised South Korean President Lee Myung-bak’s appeal for restraint.
