Estonia Opens Honorary Consulate in Valencia

On the evening of 9 February, the Estonian Honorary Consulate in Valencia was opened by Estonian Ambassador to Spain Toomas Kahur. Estonia’s new honorary consul in Valencia is José Vicente Morata Estragués.

Ambassador Toomas Kahur stated that opening an honorary consulate in Valencia would help to advance bilateral relations between Estonia and Spain. “Opening an honorary consulate will definitely give a boost to the development of trade relations between Estonia and Valencia, since our new consul, who is also the president of the Valencia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has very good contacts in the area’s business circles,” said the ambassador. The ambassador added that the presence of an honorary consul in Valencia is also important when it comes to consular aid, since now Estonian citizens can turn to the honorary consul there when they require aid.

Honorary Consul José Vicente Morata Estragués was born in Valencia in 1960. He gained his higher education in business management, to which he later added studies at several business schools and in courses organised by the Valencia Chamber of Commerce. In 1978 he joined the family business “Puertas Morata”, which has been in business since 1896 and produces wooden elements for the construction industry. Currently the honorary consul is the director of the company as well as the president of the Valencia Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In addition to his work activities, José Vicente Morata Estragués is on the board of many organisations. The honorary consul speaks Spanish and English.
