Foreign Minister Paet to Visit Future European Union Member Croatia Tomorrow

07.07.2011

No. 239-E

Tomorrow in Dubrovnik Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will meet with his Croatian colleague Gordan Jandrokovic. Paet will also participate in the summit taking place in Croatia entitled “A New Decade for South East Europe – Finalizing the Transition”.

Foreign Minister Paet stated that Croatia concluding its practical accession negotiations with the European Union is an indication of the fact that the country has done very diligent work over the years. “Croatia’s endeavours to join Euro-Atlantic structures have been very successful. In 2009 Croatia joined NATO and now in 2013 Croatia will evidently become the 28th member state of the European Union,” he said.

At Paet and Jandrokovic’s meeting they will discuss Estonia-Croatia bilateral relations. The end of Croatia’s accession negotiations with the European Union will also be addressed. Other topics of discussion will be relations between Croatia and NATO and the situation in the Western Balkans in general.
