Foreign Minister Urmas Paet to meet German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle at Rügen

Tomorrow, on 24 August, in Rügen, Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will meet German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Ažubalis and Latvian Foreign Minister Ģirts Valdis Kristovskis.

The Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian and German foreign ministers will discuss the challenges lying ahead for the European Union, including the debt crisis in the Eurozone and the next financial framework.

"Due to the close links within the financial system, the European Union debt crisis impacts the entire world economy, and all members of the euro area have an obligation to contribute to resolving the situation," said Paet. "For that reason, it is important to discuss the further steps with the largest country in the euro area, Germany." EU Eastern Partnership issues and relations with Russia will be other European Union topics to be discussed by the ministers.

They will also address cooperation in the OSCE, the Baltic Sea Strategy and opportunities for cooperation between the Baltic Sea states.
The roundtable of tourism sector representatives from four countries, "Mare Balticum – tourism in the Baltic Sea region: experiences and perspectives“, will be held simultaneously with the meeting.

Estonia will be represented at the roundtable by Enterprise Estonia's representative in Hamburg, Evely Baum, and the vice-president of the Estonian Association of Travel Agents, Külli Karing. The roundtable is a preparatory part of a larger tourism conference between the Baltic Sea States, to be held in 2012.
