Chinese Foreign Minister Expressed His Wish to Continue Developing Friendly Relations with Estonia

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Estonia and China, Yang Jiechi, the Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, sent a letter to Foreign Minister Urmas Paet, in which he congratulated Estonia on the 20th anniversary of the restoration of its independence and expresses readiness for the continued development of friendly relations between Estonia and China.

In his letter, the Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told Foreign Minister Paet that during the 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the development of mutual relations between Estonia and China has been good; many visits have taken place and cooperation related to economics and commerce, as well as cultural exchanges, have developed. “Estonia and China have also had good communication and cooperation in international relations,” Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi noted in his letter. The Chinese foreign minister added that he highly values the activities of the Estonian foreign minister and foreign ministry in promoting Estonian-Chinese relations and wishes to continue the development of friendly relations and cooperation with Estonia.

In a letter to his Chinese colleague, Foreign Minister Paet said that the development of bilateral relations with China, which are based on mutual trust and understanding, is important for Estonia. Paet thanked his colleague for helping to deepen bilateral relations. “It is also our goal to strengthen relations and mutual understanding between Estonia and China,” Paet said in his letter. Paet also invited the Chinese foreign minister to visit Estonia.
