No. 331-E

Tomorrow and the next day, 18-19 October, Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will be on a visit to Georgia, where he will meet with President Mikheil Saakashvili, Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze, and other state officials.

During their meeting, foreign ministers Paet and Vashadze will discuss co-operation between Georgia and the European Union as well as Eastern Partnership. Foreign Minister Paet has stated that Estonia supports Georgia’s movement towards the European Union and noted that an essential factor in this movement is Georgia’s own desire and dedication to focus on reforms. “We encourage Georgia to continue carrying out reforms and strengthening its civil society,” said Foreign Minister Paet.

Other topics to be discussed at the meetings are Estonia-Georgia bilateral relations, including political and economic relations and co-operation in international organisations. The situations in the neighbourhoods of both countries and relations with NATO will also be addressed.
