New Latvian Foreign Minister to Visit Estonia

On Monday, 31 October, the new foreign minister of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs will be in Estonia for a visit and meet with Foreign Minister Urmas Paet. This will be the Latvian foreign minister’s first foreign visit since assuming his position.

During his visit, Latvian Foreign Minister Rinkēvičs will also meet with President Toomas Hendrik Ilves.

Topics to be discussed at the meetings are Estonia-Latvia bilateral relations and opportunities for regional co-operation. Other topics will include Eastern Partnership, including the most recent developments in Ukraine, Belarus, and Georgia. Co-operation in NATO and the current situation in the EU economy will also be addressed.


The Estonian and Latvian foreign ministers will give a joint press conference on Monday, 31 October at 13.35 in the Foreign Ministry press centre.
