Foreign Ministry Statement Regarding Estonian Citizen Abducted by Pirates Off Coast of Nigeria

On 16 October the shipping company Bourbon notified the Foreign Ministry that the seven crew members of a ship belonging to the company, Bourbon Liberty, have been abducted by pirates near the coast of Nigeria. One of the crew members is an Estonian citizen.

The Foreign Ministry is working on the case along with other relevant administrative agencies and is in contact with the family of the citizen as well as representatives of the shipping company.
