His All-Holiness, Bartholomew I, Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch to Visit Estonia

On September 4-11, His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will be visiting Estonia at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Estonia.

During the first two days of the visit, His All-Holiness will meet with President of the Republic Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Speaker of the Riigikogu Ene Ergma, Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, Foreign Minister Urmas Paet, Mayor of Tallinn Edgar Savisaar, and representatives of the member churches of the Estonian Council of Churches.

The patriarch will also visit Estonian orthodox churches in Tallinn, Pärnu, Pootsi-Kõpu, Kihnu, Kuressaare, and Haapsalu as well as the Reomäe Priory in Saaremaa. His Holiness will also meet representatives of local leaders in the Pärnu, Saare, and Lääne counties.

At the meetings, many current topics will be discussed, including activities of the Estonian Apostolic-Orthodox Church and its parishes as well as the latest developments in Estonia and Europe.

This year, the Estonian Apostolic-Orthodox Church will celebrate the 90th anniversary of its autonomy. For this occasion on September 6, Estonian Post, in cooperation with the Estonian Apostolic-Orthodox Church, will present a postcard and a stamp honouring the 90th anniversary of the autonomy of the Estonian Apostolic-Orthodox Church and the visit of His All-Holiness.
