Estonian Ambassador to Albania Presented His Credentials

Today, 31 October, Estonian Ambassador to the Republic of Albania presented his credentials to the President of Albania Bujar Faik Nishani. Ambassador Rava resides in Athens.

Following the ceremony, Ambassador Margus Rava and President of Albania Bujar Faik Nishani discussed bilateral relations and Albania’s progress in European integration. According to Ambassador Rava, it is certainly in Estonia’s interest for countries which lie in the heart of Europe to have a closer bond with European values and principles. “Estonia values Albania’s efforts to create a more transparent government, a more secure society, and a more rule-based business environment,” said Ambassador Rava.

Ambassador Rava and President Nishani also spoke about opportunities to further intensify the relationship between Estonia and Albania. “In recent years, Estonia-Albania relations have been the most practical in the fields of information technology and e-governance,” stated Rava. “We have also cooperated in the field of border patrol technology,” he added.

Margus Rava was born in Tallinn in 1964. In 1989, he graduated from the Tallinn Polytechnical Institute as an electronic engineer and in 1992, from the Estonian School of Diplomacy. In 1991, Margus Rava began to work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the press and information department. From 1994 to 1997 he worked as a political affairs diplomat in the Embassy of Estonia in Riga and from 2000 to 2002 he was an economic affairs diplomat in the Embassy of Estonia in London. From 2002-2006 Margus Rava was the Foreign Ministry’s Director General of the external economic and development cooperation department. From 2006 to 2010 Rava was the Ambassador of Estonia to France and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Estonia to UNESCO. From the fall of 2010 until his departure for Greece, Margus Rava was the Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large for Energy and Climate Affairs. Since 2011, Margus Rava has also been the non-residing Ambassador of Estonia to Jordan.
