Foreign Minister Urmas Paet Will Take Over Estonia’s Chairmanship of Baltic Council of Ministers


Tomorrow, 29 November, Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will participate in a joint session of the Baltic Assembly and the Baltic Council of Ministers and will take over Estonia’s chairmanship of the Baltic Council of Ministers.

Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will give a presentation at the Baltic Council of Ministers about Estonia’s priorities for next year’s chairmanship. “During the chairmanship, Estonia will focus on IT-related cooperation, regional energy market development, transport infrastructure improvement, and Baltic Sea regional cooperation enhancement,” noted Paet.

The Baltic cooperation chairmanship changes at the beginning of every calendar year and the chairing country coordinates cooperation at all levels. This year, Latvia was the chairman and in 2014 it is Estonia’s turn.
