Foreign Minister Urmas Paet spoke with Acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister


Foreign Minister Urmas Paet spoke today by telephone with Acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Deshchytsia preceding an emergency meeting of European Union foreign ministers.

Acting foreign minister Deshchytsia confirmed that the new government's foreign policy priorities are maintaining Ukraine’s sovereignty and integrating with Europe, including signing the Association Agreement with the European Union and meeting the requirements for visa simplification.

The Ukrainian foreign minister thanked Estonia for its strong support.

Foreign minister Paet said that the EU unequivocally supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Also, the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement continues to be ready to be signed. “We approve of concluding this agreement and feel that it would be beneficial for the future perspective of Ukraine,” he noted.

Today, Paet is participating in an emergency meeting of EU foreign ministers on the topic of Ukraine.
