Estonian diplomat starting work at the Finnish Embassy in Saudi Arabia

12.03.2014

Foreign minister Urmas Paet and Finnish foreign minister Erkki Tuomioja signed an agreement according to which an Estonian diplomat will start to work in the Finnish embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

According to foreign minister Paet, this is a good example of the effective and practical cooperation that exists between Estonia and Finland. “Estonian diplomats have worked for the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at Finnish embassies in the past and vice versa,” he said. He added that the last such Finnish diplomat was Marko Mäntylä who worked at the Estonian Embassy in Tbilisi from September 2012 to March 2013. “In 2011, Estonian diplomat Kaili Terras worked at the Finnish Embassy in Zambia for six months," Paet said.

According to the agreement signed by the foreign ministers, Estonian diplomat Siim Krispin will start working at the Finnish embassy in Riyadh in the fall of this year for a period of six months.
