His Royal Highness Prince Harry to visit Estonia

His Royal Highness Prince Harry will visit Estonia on May 16 and 17.

With his visit, Prince Harry wishes to thank the people of Estonia and the Estonian Defence Forces for their cooperation in Afghanistan. On the first day of his visit, as part of a public ceremony, Prince Harry will place a wreath at the base of the monument to the War of Independence. Following the ceremony, the Prince will attend a reception at the Riigikogu, the Estonian Parliament, where he will meet with members of the government and parliament, as well as Estonian soldiers who were wounded, many of whom were treated together with British soldiers at the Headley Court Clinic in Great Britain.

On the second day of his visit, Prince Harry will visit the Estonian Defence Forces annual “Spring Storm” training exercises and will meet with the President of the Republic Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Commander of the Defence Forces Riho Terras, as well as members of the Defence Forces participating in the exercises.

Friday, May 16
Laying of wreaths at the base of the Monument to the War of Independence

(Freedom Square)

The Minister of Defence Sven Mikser and the Commander of the Defence Forces Major General Riho Terras will be present.

We ask that photographers and camera operators arrive no later than 16:15.

Two areas have been designated for the press: a platform by the monument to the War of Independence and an area on the adjacent Freedom Square.

Reception at the Riigikogu, the Estonian Parliament

Meetings with members of the government and parliament and Estonian soldiers wounded in Afghanistan.

Due to a lack of space, the press has limited access. We will get in touch with all accredited representatives of the media personally.

We ask that photographers and camera operators arrive no later than 17:40.

Saturday, May 17

08:00 to 11:00 Visit to the Estonian Defence Forces’ annual “Spring Storm” military exercises, where Prince Harry will thank members of the Estonian Defence Forces who served in Afghanistan for their bravery and commitment to Estonia’s and Great Britain’s joint mission in Afghanistan.

(Kanepi hamlet, Põlgaste village)

Meetings with the President of the Republic Toomas Hendrik Ilves, the Commander of the Defence Forces Riho Terras, as well as members of the Defence Forces participating in the exercises.
