Kaljurand: Estonia continues to support Afghanistan in the fields of ICT and education

Foreign Minister Marina Kaljurand met today with the Minister for Higher Education of Afghanistan Farida Momand who is here to open a collaborative project of Tallinn University and Kabul University.

Foreign Minister Kaljurand expressed happiness at the universities of Tallinn and Kabul finding an opportunity for long-term cooperation. “It is delightful that we can support Afghanistan in education and ICT sector which boosts a wider development of these fields in Afghan society,” Kaljurand said.

Minister for Higher Education of Afghanistan thanked Kaljurand in addition to collaboration in education also for Estonia’s contribution to the NATO-led international security mission, to development cooperation, and to rebuilding health care system. Foreign Minister and Minister for Higher Education also discussed women’s situation in Afghanistan and its education system.

The visit of the Minister for Higher Educationof Afghanistan marks the start of collaboration between Tallinn University and Kabul University that aims to help run the master’s program developed by Tallinn University at the Kabul University’s IT department.
