Statement by the Estonian Foreign Ministry regarding the Russian Federation’s intention to hold the State Duma elections in the illegally annexed territories of Crimea and Sevastopol

15.09.2016

15. September 2016 - 17:16

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs deplores Russian Federation’s intention to hold State Duma elections on 18 September 2016 in illegally annexed territories of Crimea and Sevastopol.

Implementing such a plan would constitute yet another example of a clear violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

We commend decision of the OSCE/ODIHR not to deploy election observers to Crimea, in line with the non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol.
