Foreign Minister Mikser condemns terrorist attack in Barcelona

Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser issued comments deploring the act of terrorism in Barcelona’s tourist district on August 17.

"We deepest condemn this brutal terrorist attack. Such inhuman attacks have no place in our world, said Mikser. “I express my sincere sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims and to the people of Spain.

“The international community has said on many occasions that the security of Europe and its citizens is a priority for us, and it will continue to be so. We must become even more resolute and effective in fighting terrorism so that all people are protected,” said Mikser.

The Foreign Ministry, which said it had no information that its nationals were among the victims in the attack in the city’s tourist district, reminded Estonians in Barcelona to avoid the scene, to follow the instructions of authorities, and to notify friends and family if they are safe.
