Foreign Minister Urmas Paet to Present Foreign Ministry Cultural Stipends on Friday

On Friday, 6 January at 12.00 Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will present the Foreign Ministry cultural stipends. The stipends are given in recognition of people who have helped to introduce Estonia abroad through culture.

The recipients of this year’s Foreign Ministry cultural stipends are Aivar Mäe as well as three members of the creative team for the XI Youth Song and Dance Celebration held in 2011 – Veronika Portsmuth, Märt Agu and Raul Talmar.

The Foreign Ministry is recognising Aivar Mäe for restoring a part of Estonia’s cultural heritage and the creative team of the Youth Song and Dance Celebration for maintaining and developing Estonia’s cultural heritage as well as sharing it with the world.

A letter of thanks from the Foreign Ministry will also be given to the director of the Song and Dance Celebration Foundation Aet Maatee.

Last year the Foreign Ministry’s cultural stipends were awarded to Arvo Pärt, Tõnu Kaljuste, and Tiina Lokk, and in 2009 they went to Imbi Paju and Tiit Ojasoo.

The presentation of the cultural stipends will take place on Friday, 6 January at 12.00 in the Foreign Ministry. If you would like to attend the event please let the Foreign Ministry press spokesperson’s office know at the email address or by phone at 637 7654 by Friday, 6 January at 11.00.

Please arrive no later than 11.50 on 6 January. Enter through the Foreign Ministry’s guest entrance located at Lauteri 2, and please remember to bring along a photo ID!
