Seminar on Foreign Markets for Producers of Pre-Built Houses Took Place in Foreign Ministry

10.02.2012

No. 32-E

On Thursday, 9 February, a seminar on foreign markets for the producers of pre-built wooden houses organised in co-operation with the Estonian Wooden Houses Association took place in the Foreign Ministry. Almost 20 entrepreneurs took part in the event, in addition to co-operation partners from the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Enterprise Estonia. The seminar was opened by Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Economic and Development Affairs Väino Reinart. Presentations were given by economic diplomats from Estonia’s embassies abroad. The Embassy of the United Kingdom in Estonia was also involved in carrying out the seminar.

Undersecretary Väino Reinart stated that this seminar was the second event geared towards the producers of pre-built houses organised by the Foreign Ministry. The first seminar took place in May 2011. “By organising such events, the Foreign Ministry would like to give entrepreneurs an overview of the construction market in various countries, thereby making it easier for producers to enter a new foreign market,” said Reinart. “We would also like to intensify co-operation and reciprocal contacts between entrepreneurs and Estonian economic diplomats,” he added.

This time the seminar focused on the markets of the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and Great Britain. The countries in focus were chosen according to the producers’ interests and plans for this year. By holding such seminars, the Foreign Ministry hopes to help Estonian producers enter the aforementioned markets and prepare them for international fairs that will take place in the Netherlands and Great Britain.

“Our second seminar introducing potential markets to the producers of pre-built houses was undoubtedly useful for the participating entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurs who are active in specific markets got fresh information on market trends and recent developments, and those who hope to enter new markets got a good background of introductory information as well as knowledge of how to find more specific information and co-operation partners,” said member of the board of the Estonian Wooden Houses Association and director of the Estonian Wooden Houses Cluster Elari Kivisoo. Kivisoo stated that the contacts created between entrepreneurs and diplomats from Estonian embassies during the seminar are also very valuable.

In addition to seminars geared towards the producers of pre-built wooden houses, in the past the Foreign Ministry has also organised information seminars for food manufacturers and logistics companies in co-operation with professional associations. The Foreign Ministry wants to continue organising similar sector-specific seminars based on the interests and needs of professional associations and other business development associations.
