Estonian and Finnish Foreign Ministers To Open High-Level International Criminal Court Seminar in Tallinn

On Monday, 10 September, Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will meet with Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja, who will be in Estonia for a visit.

At 13.50 on Monday, 10 September, Paet and Tuomioja will open the high-level seminar of the International Criminal Court (ICC) taking place in Tallinn from 10-11 September entitled “10 Years of the International Criminal Court: A Focus on Victims”. The topic of the seminar will be the treatment of victims by the ICC in the areas of aiding them with victim funds and paying reparation.

The seminar is being organised by the Institute of Human Rights in co-operation with President of the Assembly of States Parties of the ICC Tiina Intelmann and the Finnish and Estonian foreign ministries. Additional information: http://www.eihr.ee/icc-seminar-10-11-09-2012/ .

At their bilateral meeting, Paet and Tuomioja will discuss Estonia-Finland relations, the situations in Syria and the Middle East, regional co-operation, and matters related to the upcoming UN General Assembly. For European Union topics, the two will discuss the further enlargement of the union, matters related to Eastern Partnership, and opportunities for development in the EU’s foreign policy.

The Estonian and Finnish foreign ministers will sign a memorandum of mutual understanding for sending a Finnish exchange diplomat to the Estonian Embassy in Georgia.
