New Estonian Ambassador to Luxembourg Presents Credentials

On Thursday, 6 December, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Gert Antsu presented his credentials to Grand Duke of Luxembourg Henri.

In the conversation that followed the presentation of credentials, Estonian Ambassador Gert Antsu and Grand Duke of Luxembourg Henri talked about developing Estonia-Luxembourg bilateral relations.

Ambassador Antsu stated that Estonia and Luxembourg have good co-operation in the European Union. “We share similar values and today are together among the most European-minded EU member states,” Antsu noted.

Ambassador Antsu and Grand Duke Henri also spoke about the well-being of Europe’s economy and the need for both solidarity and reforms. The need to intensify Estonia and Luxembourg’s bilateral trade relations was also emphasised at the meeting. 

Gert Antsu was born on 20 October 1974 in Pärnu. He graduated from Tartu University with a degree in political science and later studied at the College of Europe in Natolin, Poland.

Gert Antsu worked in the European integration division/European Union secretariat of the State Chancellery starting in 1997. From 2004-2008, Antsu was the director of European Union affairs at the State Chancellery. Starting in 2008 Gert Antsu was the deputy director for Coreper I affairs at Estonia’s Permanent Representation to the European Union. Gert Antsu has given lectures on European Union topics at Tallinn University, the Estonian Business School, Tartu University, and the Estonian School of Diplomacy.

The ambassador speaks English, French, Russian, Danish, German, and Polish.
