Foreign Ministry Coming Events: 8-14 July 2013


10.07 Foreign Ministry Secretary General Alar Streimann will meet with Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry of Cyprus Andreas Mavroyiannis, who will be in Estonia for a visit. The secretaries general will discuss Estonia-Cyprus relations and co-operation between the foreign ministries. Of European Union topics, the two will discuss developments in the economic and monetary union, matters related to the digital single market, further enlargement of the union, and foreign policy matters such as the situation in Europe’s southern neighbourhood and the Middle East peace process.

11-12.07 Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will be on a visit to Georgia, where he will give a speech in Batum at the international conference on European Union integration and Eastern Partnership “Georgia’s European Way: The EU’s Eastern Partners – Towards the Vilnius Summit”.
Foreign Minister Paet also has meetings scheduled with members of the Georgian government, including Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze and Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Topics to be discussed at the meetings include Estonia-Georgia relations and international co-operation, as well as recent developments in Georgia. They will also discuss Georgia’s integration with the European Union and NATO.

Cultural events taking place abroad:
8.07-17.07 The Eesti Raadio Laulustuudio Children’s Choir will perform at an international choir festival in Llangollen, Wales. The choir will also perform in Bury St Edmunds and London.

12.07 Estonian Ambassador to Greece Andres Talvik will open an exhibit of Estonian artists entitled “Two-Way Street. Contemporary Estonian Paintings” in the Corfu City Gallery. The exhibit is made up of paintings by instructors at the Estonian Academy of Arts Jaan Toomik and Vano Allsalu and graduate students Mihkel Ilus and Mihkel Maripuu.
The exhibit was made possible by the co-operation of the Estonian Embassy in Athens with the Corfu City Gallery and the municipal government as well as the Foreign Ministry, the Estonian Artists’ Association, and the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
