The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes with regret that the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation regarding the Sinimäed memorial event is malicious.

The memorial event of 27 July is in remembrance of those who fell and suffered in the Second World War. In Estonia, everyone has the right to commemorate those who perished in the war. The Second World War is one of the most tragic events in recent history and it is entirely appropriate to remember those who lost their lives in the war. 

The Republic of Estonia has condemned the crimes of all totalitarian regimes that have occupied Estonia. We disapprove of any ideological manipulation on the subject.
