Estonian jazz music was showcased in London

Yesterday, on February 11, Estonian jazz musicians performed at the jazz club Club Inégales in London. The goal of the event entitled “Encounter Estonian Jazz” was to introduce Estonian jazz music to concert organisers, managers and other key figures in the British music industry.

According to Kristel Oitmaa, cultural counsellor at the Estonian embassy in London, yesterday’s introductory event was a good opportunity to show the prowess of Estonian jazz musicians. “The musicians and people in the local jazz community also had a chance to personally converse and connect,” Oitmaa explained and added that organising such events is a good way to find opportunities to export Estonian music.

Performing at the concert were Kadri Voorand Trio, Duo Tuule Kann & Jaak Sooäär, Oleg Pissarenko Band and Villu Veski, who performed along with Estonian musicians and British jazz singer Ola Onabule.

The event was organised cooperatively by the Estonian Music Development Centre, the Estonian Embassy in London, the Ministry of Culture, Enterprise Estonia and the European Regional Development Fund.
