Foreign Ministry Upcoming Events: March 24-30, 2014


25.03 The foreign minister will introduce the draft legislation of the ratification of the agreement on the financing of Community aid under the multiannual financial framework with the ACP-EC Partnership Agreement to parliament. For more information:

26.03 The Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General Alar Streimann is meeting with the Finnish Foreign Ministry’s Secretary of State Peter Stenlund.  Topics of discussion at the meeting will include cooperative work between the Estonian and Finnish foreign ministries, subjects related to the situation in Ukraine, the Arctic and regional cooperation.

26-27.03 The foreign ministry’s undersecretary for economic and development affairs Väino Reinart will participate in an international conference in Tbilisi, Georgia, which will focus on Georgia’s prospects and opportunities for economic integration with the European Union.

26.03 The new Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Estonia H.E. Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi and the new Ambassador of Malaysia to Estonia H.E. Datin Seri Blanche Olbery will present their credentials to President Toomas Hendrik Ilves.

26.03 The foreign ministry’s consuls will be presenting their “Travel Smart” seminar to students at Kanepi Secondary School. The consuls will discuss issues regarding travel and studying and working abroad, including how to prepare for the journey and what to do when help is needed in a foreign country.

27-28.03 The foreign minister will be on an official visit to Uzbekistan, where he will meet with Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and foreign economic, investment and trade minister Elyor Ganiev. At the meetings, bilateral relations between Estonia and Uzbekistan, relations between the European Union and Uzbekistan and the situation in the local region, including security issues and developments related to Afghanistan will be discussed.

A 16-member delegation of Estonian entrepreneurs will be accompanying the foreign minister on his visit to Uzbekistan. The foreign minister will officially open an Estonian-Uzbekistan business forum in Tashkent.

Cultural events abroad:

26.03 The film Tangerines will premiere in Helsinki. The premiere screening will take place at the cinema K-13 and is being organised by the Estonian Institute in Finland in cooperation with the Estonian Embassy and Georgian Embassy. For more information:

27.03 The photo exhibition “Photographed Estonia”, featuring the works of Estonian photographers Annika Haas, Birgit Püve, Gabriela Järvet and Ingmar Muusikus is being presented within the framework of the event “Meeting Estonia” at the Warsaw International Library. The event is being organized by the Polish-Estonian Friendship Association and the Estonian Embassy in Warsaw.
