The Supreme Court of India will reach a verdict in the case of the Estonian ship guards in the coming weeks


Today, on April 28, the second hearing in the case of the Estonian ship guards took place in the Supreme Court of India, which heard all of the arguments of the defence lawyer hired by the Foreign Ministry. The judge announced that the court will soon make its written verdict public.

According to information received from the attorney, the session lasted the whole day and the judge will now pronounce the judgment and proceed to inform the lawyers.

According to Foreign Minister Keit Pentus-Rosimannus, it is very encouraging that a substantive debate took place before the judges and that the court announced it would make a decision in the near future. “Today was a step forward. We now want a quick verdict,” the Foreign Minister said.

The Foreign Minister confirmed that all circumstances related to the ship guards, who are Estonian citizens, will be the main focus of the Foreign Ministry and the Estonian Embassy in New Delhi until the men detained in India have arrived back home.
