Estonia’s Ambassador to France presented his credentials


Yesterday, on September 8, Estonian Ambassador Alar Streimann presented his credentials to the President of the French Republic, François Hollande.

During the brief conversation held at the time of the presentation of credentials, President Hollande and Ambassador Streimann confirmed the good relations existing between Estonia and France. President Hollande praised Estonia as a progressive country and stressed the need to continue close cooperation, in order to deal with the challenges ahead, including the migration crisis, alongside other European nations. Ambassador Streimann raised the issue of the importance of regional security with reference to Ukraine.

Alar Streimann began working at the Foreign Ministry in 1991. He has worked as the Director General of the External Economics Department, the Undersecretary for European Integration and the chief negotiator for EU accession. He has also been the Estonian Ambassador to the Council of Europe, and to Sweden. Before his new assignment as Estonia’s Ambassador to France, Alar Streimann held the position of Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry.
