Estonia Expresses Concern Over Khodorkovsky’s New Trial

28.12.2010

Nr 406-E

Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet stated that the new trial of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and the fact that he was accused as guilty ahead of time shows a regression in the establishment of rule of law principles in Russia. “These developments weaken possibilities for rule of law to develop in Russia,” said Paet.

Foreign Minister Paet added that the international community is attentively following further developments in the situation. “It is essential that the principles of rule of law are followed in reaching the final verdict in the Khodorkovsky trial,” he said.
