President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to Visit Estonia

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will be in Estonia for a state visit from 20-21 April.

He has meetings scheduled with President of the Republic Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Riigikogu Speaker Ene Ergma, and Prime Minister Andrus Ansip. Bilateral relations, with a focus mainly on economic issues, will be addressed during his visit. Other topics to be discussed are European Union-Kazakhstan relations and the situation in the Central Asian region. Additional topics will include security policy and matters related to international organisations.

President Nursultan Nazarbayev will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov, Minister of Communications and Information Askar Zhumagaliyev and Minister of Transport and Communications Berik Kamaliyev.

Also on the agenda is the signing of an agreement on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments, as well as an agreement on co-operation in the field of archives between the National Archives of the Republic of Estonia and the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

President of the Republic Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Mrs. Evelin Ilves will host a formal dinner at the Bank of Estonia in honour of the state visit of President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

President Nazarbayev will also meet with former president Armold Rüütel and Mayor of Tallinn Edgar Savisaar. President Nursultan Nazarbayev will lay a wreath at the base of the Monument to the War of Independence, become acquainted with Tallinn’s Old Town on a tour led by Jüri Kuuskemaa, and meet with representatives of Estonian businesses.

Press cards will be available as of 12.00 on 19 April from the desk at the guest entrance of the Foreign Ministry at Lauteri 2.
