01.09.2011

No. 282-E

The foreign ministers will discuss the EU's relations with strategic partners -- Brazil, India and South Africa. It is also planned to discuss the progress of the Middle Eastern peace process.

EU initiatives toward southern and eastern cooperation will be discussed with foreign ministers from EU candidate states Croatia, the FYR Macedonia, Turkey and Iceland.

The unofficial Gymnich meetings of the EU's foreign ministers take place twice a year -- in March and September. The namesake of the meeting is the Gymnich Castle near Bonn, where the first such meeting took place.
