Estonian Ambassador to Ukraine Presents Credentials

On Wednesday, 16 November, Estonian Ambassador to Ukraine Lauri Lepik presented his credentials to President Viktor Yanukovych.

Ambassador Lauri Lepik and President Viktor Yanukovych spoke about Estonia-Ukraine bilateral relations and agreed that there is room for further development in the economic co-operation sector.

Ambassador Lepik stated that Ukraine is an important development co-operation partner country for Estonia and that Estonia is prepared to share the experiences it gained while joining the EU and NATO with Ukraine.

Since September of this year Lauri Lepik is also the Estonian ambassador to Moldova, residing in Kiev.

Lauri Lepik was born on 14 October 1960. He graduated from Tallinn Pedagogical University with a degree in library and information science and from Humboldt University in Germany with a degree in political science. Lepik began working in the diplomatic field in 1995, when he came to work at the Foreign Ministry as a counsellor. From 1996-1999 Lepik was the deputy chief and following that the defence counsellor at the Estonian Embassy in Washington. From 2004-2005 Lauri Lepik addressed European Union security and defence questions at the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defence. Following that Lepik was a counsellor until 2008 and then the deputy chief of Estonia’s Permanent Representation to NATO until 2011.
