Estonia Opened Honorary Consulate in Croatia

On Friday, 27 September, the Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General Alar Streimann opened Estonia’s honorary consulate in Croatia. Estonia’s honorary consul in Croatia is Boris Jukić. Deputy Foreign Minister of Croatia Joško Klisović was also present at the opening of the honorary consulate.

At the opening of the honorary consulate, the Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General Alar Streimann stressed the importance of Croatia’s incorporation into the European Union and expressed hope that this would motivate other states in the region to continue the process of EU integration.

According to Secretary General Streimann, the activity of the honorary consul will help the development of closer relations between Estonia and Croatia. “The activity of the honorary consuls is important and helpful for improving economic and cultural ties and creating interpersonal contacts with other countries,” stressed Secretary General Streimann. In addition to the promotion of cultural and economic relations, the honorary consul can also provide consular assistance to travellers in need.

Estonia’s honorary consul Boris Jukić was born in 1962 in Zagreb. Jukić studied law at the University of Zagreb and runs his own law firm. He is also an active member of the Croatian Bar Association and the Croatian Association of Mediators.

The honorary consul speaks Croatian and English.
