31.03.2014

Foreign minister Urmas Paet will participate in a meeting of European Union and African foreign ministers tomorrow in Brussels. The foreign ministers will discuss the situation in the Central African Republic.

Foreign minister Urmas Paet said that the European Union must settle on the launch of the Central African Republic operation as soon as possible, in order to prevent the conflict from escalating.

“Stopping the violence and starting the reconciliation process between communities is a priority,” foreign minister Paet said. “If it is not possible to stop escalation of the conflict, a real threat of genocide may develop in the Central African Republic,” he added.

Following the meeting of European Union and African foreign ministers, foreign minister Urmas Paet will give a speech at the International Conference on Genocide Prevention in Brussels.
