Estonia sent its diplomat to work in Moldova

The foreign ministry has sent a diplomatic representative to Chisinau Moldova whose task is the promotion and development of bilateral relations, as well as representing the interests of Estonian citizens and businesses.

Foreign minister Urmas Paet said that Estonia considers the European Union's reaffirming its support for political and economic integration with the Republic of Moldova to be important and is sending its diplomat there as well. "Moldova is an important partner for Estonia, who we have supported for many years, and we wish to continue strengthening our relations. We also consider it important to support Moldova’s EU aspirations. The soon to be signed Association Agreement, as well as visa-free travel with the EU will help support this aspiration,” the foreign minister added.

Estonian diplomat Raul Toomas will begin working in the Moldovan capital of Chisinau this week. His tasks will include observing and analysing the developments of political and economic relations, developing bilateral relations and promoting development cooperation with Moldova. In addition, he will represent the interests of the Republic of Estonia, its citizens and legal persons in Moldova.
