Invitation to press briefing – Introduction to Iceland Day and foreign policy conference


On Monday, 8 August at 10:30 in the restaurant Aed, Foreign Minister Urmas Paet and Ambassador of Iceland Elin Flygenring will introduce the Iceland Day event taking place on 21 August and the foreign policy conference “20.08.1991 – Twenty Years On” taking place on 20 August.

Foreign Minister Urmas Paet said that Iceland Day will take place to thank Iceland and to celebrate the special relationship between Estonia and Iceland. Within the framework of Iceland Day, concerts, exhibits, and other events introducing Iceland’s culture will take place throughout Tallinn.

An overview of the Iceland Day schedule of events will be given by project manager Helen Sildna. In addition, composer Pall Ragnar Pallson will be introducing Iceland’s musical landscape.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Estonia’s independence, the Foreign Ministry and the Estonian Foreign Policy Institute have organised a conference on 20 August entitled “20.08.1991 – Twenty Years On”, which will see the participation of the current and former foreign ministers and other political figures from our neighbouring countries.

If you would like to attend we ask that you arrive at the restaurant Aed (Rataskaevu 8) no later than 10.30 on 8 August.

At the event guests will also hear Icelandic music and be able to sample Icelandic hors d’oeuvres.
