Estonia opens Honorary Consulate in Boston


Estonian Ambassador to the U.S. Marina Kaljurand opened an Honorary Consulate in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 5. The Honorary Consul appointed is Dr. Anne-Reet Annunziata who also consular area also covers the state of Rhode Island.

"Boston and the State of Massachusetts as a whole is a hub for technology and education on the east coast, hundreds of Estonians work here. The Honorary Consulate will bring consular services closer to them and will also serve as a local contact point for stronger cooperation" Ambassador Kaljurand said. "For instance, we would like to strengthen ties with local universities, especially in the fields of IT and cyber security" she added.

Honorary Consul Anne-Reet Annunziata is a nutrition expert and her main area of work is as a nutritional consultant for elderly people. She has Master's degrees from the universities of Boston and Tufts, as well as a doctorate from Tufts University. She has advised Estonian Government institutions and businesses, collaborated with Tartu University and conducted a UNICEF study on the health and nutrition of children in Estonia.

Estonia has 14 Honorary Consulates and 15 Honorary Consuls in the United States.
